Sustainability & The Digital Tax Economy: Exploring Global Tax Policy Models
“Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.”
Henry Ford
The digitalization of the global economy has opened a world of possibilities for governments, businesses, and consumers.
At the click of a button, multinational companies today can sell their products and services to eager buyers living across world without a requirement of a traditional brick and mortar or the need for even a phone call. The exchange of goods and services might be a cinch these days, but it hasn’t come without its challenges.
Governments, international organizations, and other stakeholders throughout the world have had to adapt to a new playing field, accommodating new policies and regulations to taxation for multinational companies in an efficient, accountable, and fair manner. At the same time, international businesses operating in economies with rapidly dissipating boundaries have had to adjust their business practices to become more tax efficient.
Join us for the Global Tax Forum - for the first time in Cyprus, this one-of-a-kind hybrid international tax conference, will tackle many of these challenges, including the work being carried out by international organizations such as the European Commission (EC), United Nations (UN), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), and World Bank (WB), to find feasible solutions to the taxation of the digital economy.
The Global Tax Forum will also cover some of the more practical aspects of this discussion, looking more specifically at issues related to transfer pricing, Pillars 1 and 2 of BEPS, and boosting tax compliance across the board.
Finally, all of these discussions will be framed by talks on sustainable development, and what is ultimately required to advance the global and regional economies in a responsible, environmentally friendly, and viable way.

Taxes-Trust-Public Finances: A Virtuous Connection for Public Accountability
A look forward to the future relationship between tax and public finances. Academic studies have shown that a lack of trust compromises the willingness of citizens and businesses to respond to public policies and contribute to sustainable economic finances. Why do we need tax and why taxes are likely to increase if the public finances are to be funded adequately, what is the level of public trust in public finances and what can change that level of trust.
